HOW IT
WORKS
THE BOARD BUDDY hanger kit STEP-BY-STEP USER GUIDE
IMPORTANT!
Before you begin ensure your boards have been stored correctly, are undamaged and completely dry! Damp or damaged boards, especially plasterboard and other composite materials, can be severely weakened when damaged or when moisture is absorbed. This can lead to the board’s integrity failing during fitting, and lead to potential injury.
Ensure you have the correct PPE that meets recognised safety standards! Hard hat, suitable eye protection, gloves and boots!
STEP 1 - HANG.
-

A.
Plan ahead! You will need to bear in mind that the first board (once fitted and the clamps are removed) is positioned in the centre of the joist, indicated by the dotted line. This will allow space to secure your next board to the same joist.
This is also a good time to measure the height from the floor to ceiling joist and prepare a ‘T-bar’ for pushing up and holding your board in position for fixing.
-

B.
Using the BOARD CLAMPS (x2) and the 2 small ‘U’ compression brackets and thumbscrews, fit the BOARD CLAMPS over the top edge of your panel board.
-

C.
Attach the clamps at 200mm and 1000mm (1m) in from one edge of the board to the centre of each clamp cut-out, giving a measurement of 800mm between clamp cut-out centres with a standard-sized 1200mm width board. Tighten the thumbscrews to compress the U-bracket teeth into the board to secure the clamps.
Double-check your measurements and make minor adjustments if necessary.
-

D.
Attach the JOIST CLAMPS (x2) securely to the joist at 200mm and 1000mm from the wall (or other starting point) to the centre of each JOIST CLAMP finger.
-

E.
Before raising the board up to the joist, check you have 800mm between the centres of the JOIST CLAMP hooks (to match the BOARD CLAMP cut-outs).
-

F.
Raise the panel board with the BOARD CLAMPS fitted and offer on to the JOIST CLAMPS.
-

G.
Ensure the BOARD CLAMPS are securely engaged with each of the corresponding JOIST CLAMPS.
-

H.
The panel board is now securely hanging on the CLAMPS and you are now free to swing the panel board into place.
STEP 2 - SWING.
-

I
With the panel board now hanging securely from the joist, take a T-BAR (not supplied) and place it against your panel board.
-

J.
Firmly push against the panel board and walk it into place, lifting it upwards as you go.
-

K.
Once you have pushed the panel board all the way up to meet the required fixing joist, use the T-BAR to prop it in place.
STEP 3 - FIX.
-

L.
With the panel board propped up with the T-BAR and firmly resting against the joist, you are now free to secure this end in position.
-

M.
Once you have secured one end of the panel board to the joist, you can then proceed to secure at least half (but not more than two-thirds) of the board along both sides and through the centre before removing the CLAMPS.
-

N.
Before securing the clamped end of the panel board, remember to unscrew and remove the clamps from both the board and the joist.
-

O.
Once fully secured, and with enough space to secure your next board to the same joist, repeat the process.
